I have a disabled friend who's got it pretty rough. She likes to write, so I'm trying to refurb for her an X60 non-tab that needs a new screen and memory. I think she'd like it since it only weighs a few pounds. No, I'm not throwing her the sausage. She's married and lives 300 miles due North. I would like to put 4GB of DDR2 memory in it, so that means 2GB on two cards or 4GB on one card. I would also prefer to find the whole screen assembly (including the screen) instead of just a working panel. I really dislike having to crack open a screen assembly and the one I have isn't in great shape, anyway.
Thanks.
Needed: X60/X61 non-tablet screen assembly & 4GB of DDR2 Memory.

Re: Needed: X60/X61 non-tablet screen assembly & 4GB of DDR2 Memory.
I have some brand new Kingston ram in matched sets 2x2gb for $40 set, or I also have some lenovo branded or other name brand pulls for the same price ($20 each).
For the screen I have an X61 that I could part out and send you the lid, or the whole bare laptop if you prefer. It has some minor cosmetic issues but the screen is good, and if you want the whole bare laptop you could do a mashup with the X60 and use the best parts from each.
BTW, are you aware that although the X60 bios will recognise upto 4gb the chipset will only let you use 3gb? if you want to stick with 3gb the cost would be $24, or $20 if you have a good 1gb chip already. I'm also pretty sure you can't use 4gb modules in an X60. The X61 will support upto 8gb as well as SATA2 since it's been modded with the middleton bios. I'm asking $99 for the laptop and shipping costs for a laptop this small shouldn't be too bad. You can send me a PM if you'd like to discuss it further.
