Frankenpad random restarts
Hi
I ran into this problem some days ago, where i tried to fix it - but no luck...
My frankenpad is restarting, over and over Again. When i try to boot windpws 8, it will restarts during boort pr shortly after the operating system is booted.
I have tried:
Looking for Damaged ports
Looking for Damaged soldering on MB
Taken out everything but the barebone laptop
Static discharge
Booting another OS
It Works fine in BIOS, and can rung the HDD diagnostic software.
My thougths have been:
- A short, somewhere - but BIOS Works
- Overheaing - but BIOS Works
- The SSD - but same error when booting from a USB stick
The processor/Motherboard?
Does anyone know what this is?
Best regards

Re: Frankenpad random restarts
Do you have another CPU to test with and verify whether the current one is the culprit?

Re: Frankenpad random restarts
Have you tried booting into a linux distro from a usb stick? I had this same issue with windows 8 on my T61 after it installed some updates. It would go into an infinite reboot loop. Ended up putting linux back on it...

RAM is tested, it should be strange if both Sticks fail at the sametime?axur-delmeria wrote:RAM Test?

Re: Frankenpad random restarts
I found the problem, it was the processor
The Core2Quad makes it crash or freeze if it manages to boot - with a P8700 it Works just fine. Looking for another QC then.
