thinkpad w500, windows 8.1 x64 - HTC one m8 not reconized

#1 Post by K-a-M-u-Z-u » Thu Mar 05, 2015 8:38 am

I have upgraded windows 8 x64 to windows 8.1 x64.
installed all the drivers and even got the firegl v5700 working.
My problem is when i'm trying to connect my HTC One M8 i will get connection sound, but i cannot access my phone.in windows 8 it showed up as MTP device.
i tried to uninstall all HTC, MTP, Android related driver(also the hidden ones), removing all HTC software and rebooting and reinstalling the latest HTC SYNC MANAGER that has the latest drivers.(I also tried connecting the phone without HTC software pre-installed).
when i'm in device manager i have the following:

I have notied in the HTC SYNC folder has a driver folder:

And tried to update the problematic drivers with each and one of them, but i'm getting this error:

I have tried all this procedures also with Driver signature enforcment disabled, and with USB Debugging ON and OFF.
when i reboot my phone to bootloader the device will be reconized as "Android 1.0".

I have connected the phone to an old Thinkpad R40 windows 7 x86, it worked fine.
I have connected the phone to a windows 8.1 x64 desktop, not problem there.
I tried to copy the specific MTP driver files from the working desktop machine to my 8.1 x64 laptop(delteting the specific files first), and it still not working...

any suggsetions?

Nevermind, i have reverted back to windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64.
everything works.
its a shame that lenovo is not making compatible driver for windows 8.1 for such a capable machine.
IBM was better...even my old thinkpad r40 could run flawlessly windows 7.

It escapes me how bugged software from HTC is Lenovo's fault...

Connecting phones to PC has for me always been hit and miss, regardless whether it was my Simbian Nokia 6120, Windows Mobile 6.1 Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 or my Android LG P880 or Windows XP or Windows 7.

And a crappy Windows 8.1, because that's what made your HTC NOT work.

Well, IT DID WORK on a desktop with the same conditions(windows 8.1 x64), so the only thing is changed is Thinkpad W500+win 8.1 x64.

I wouldn't assume the phone as a constant.
