Lines along the bottom of a T60p screen *PIC*

#1 Post by sakebalboa » Sat Mar 14, 2015 8:56 pm

I just acquired a T60p with a Boe Hydis Flexview panel. Thing is awesome except when I push the screen back or open the lid from the left hand side there are some lines that run across the bottom screen. This is easily fixed by pulling the lid slightly towards me without actually changing the screen angle or using both hands to adjust the screen in the first place. Here's what it looks like:

Does anyone know what might be causing this, and is there a way to fix it?

Seems like a screen issue, but you may want to try reseating the lcd cable that connects to the motherboard and screen. You can find the manual under "HMM" right below this forum's header.

Sorry about the giant pic (just fixed it), and thanks for your quick reply.

Yeah I'll try doing that, I see that there's a ribbon/cable that's near the left post. Do you know offhand if that part is easily replaceable or is it fused/glued part of the display?

That is actually part of the lcd cable. The cable is user replaceable, and I don't recall there being anything in the T60 to be glued together.

Awesome, I'm really digging how serviceable these thinkpads are!

If that doesn't work, apply some pressure (in effect pinch) the ends of the LCD where the lines are at and see if they go away.
You should be able to apply just enough pressure with the lid and bezel, if so maybe stuff some cardboard onto the back of the LCD to stop those loose contacts.

I have the exact same problem on my T60/61. The line vanishes if I pinch on each side of it, so I think Saucey is correct. If it gets worse, I'll try the cardboard solution.
Work: T42p (XP, UXGA IPS); T60p (XP, UXGA IPS); T60/61 FPad (Win 7, UXGA IPS).
Play: X1 (first gen, Win 7); T450s (Win 7).
