For a T43p?
Because the 70 dollars extra hopefully justifys the pros...

If you need to ask, then likely Home.

Do you need to login to a 2K or 2003 domain? That's what Pro is for. There are a handful of other subtle differences(Windows Backup is missing from Home, for example) , but mainly, that's what the 70 bucks buys you. Two or three DLL's and a raft of registry keys. You can login to a Domain.

I thought that all the T4x came with Windows XP Pro preinstalled. I'd go with Pro. You get file encryption, file permissions, and all the special networking junk.

Home is fine if you're the only one ever using the computer, but I wouldn't ever use Home otherwise.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

My desktop I'm on uses Windows XP home, its been on XP Home for a long time
If I were to get a Thinkpad, would I ever need WinXP Pro, lets say for wireless security (Anti virus takes care of that sometimes...)

XP Pro also comes with Remote Desktop. Home does not.
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

This whole discussion is moot. No T42/T43 is sold with Windows XP Home. They all come with Pro.

Not if you go for CTO models.
