DLA Disaster

#1 Post by wn0x » Sun May 29, 2005 11:15 pm

After attempting to un-install IBM DLA, my T43P boots to a BSD no matter what I try.

IBM Rescue & Recovery is operable (Blue Button), but none of the options will let me repair the operating system without a full restore of the HD to factory defaults.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried Windows safe mode?

Yep, with network, command line etc. Without my intervention it would have kept re-booting itself for hours.

Bottom line - I ended up re-installing from scratch. I won't attempt to delete DLA again!

Thanks for the response.

I've deleted it from multiple machines with no problems. Did you change the configuration in any other way between reboots?

I should mention why I deleted it: it's apparently (from my experience, at least) the cause of the "CDRW drive won't open" problem. Sometimes the TP can get in a state where pressing the drive eject button won't open the tray. Uninstalling DLA has solved the problem on my machines.
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.
