I have one T61 with Intel graphics, 1024 x 768 and with Win7 on. It is a dual boot with XP setup.
The text quality on XP is fine as it has always been on my previous Thinkpads. However with W7 the text quality is poor, especially with bold characters. At first instal I just used the standard VGA driver, this was not good either which made me instal the Intel display driver version 8.15.1.0 (driver download:7ld703ww).
I then tried switching on and off cleartype and running through the cleartype screens to find the best rendition. I never saw any improvement though. Generally I find I am happier with cleartype switched off.
The monitor shows up correctly in device manager as a laptop LCD.
I have even tried the XP driver v. 6.1.7600 (driver download: 7ld152ww). This was no better or surprisingly no worse.
As I have not spent a great deal of time on this and it is quite useable I thought I would run this problem past other Thinkpadders to try and get some improvement.
So ideas anyone ? What have I missed ? What should I do ?

Re: Win 7 Display
Is the text quality uniformly poor across all applications (e.g., desktop, Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer, other browsers, Office...)
Have you tried playing with the DPI settings?

Re: Win 7 Display
Try running the cleartype tuner utility. I think it's under Adjust ClearType Text or something in control panel.
