T440s to T450s SSD Swap

#1 Post by lbmxei » Sun Apr 05, 2015 7:34 am

Currently, my FHD touchscreen T440s has a 500GB SSD running Windows 8.1 Pro. I am removing the SSD and replacing it with the original HDD (running Windows 8) when I sell it.

My new FHD non-touchscreen T450s will come with a 500GB HDD running 8.1 Pro as well. If I simply take the SSD from my T440s and slot it in, will it function correctly after a couple of driver updates?

If that does work, will I need to re-activate windows using the UEFI OEM key?

Thank you for the help.

Welcome to the forum.

As long as both machines have the digital product key built in I don't see a problem.
