Is there truth in multiple FRU part numbers for each LCD size for TP 600?

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Is there truth in multiple FRU part numbers for each LCD size for TP 600?

#1 Post by thinkpadcollection » Sun Apr 05, 2015 8:11 pm

I wondered why this multiple FPU codes for each LCD sizes for the thinkpad 600? I'm looking for a 13.3" thinkpad motherboard to play with. The HMM I picked up does have outdated FPU codes so need help with current part codes for that motherboard 13.3 LCD size.

Cheers, thinkpadcollection.

What? What do this means by different board for different LCD?

On other hand, can I buy a thinkpad 600 motherboard and use it for any LCD sizes for thinkpad 600 only?

Cheers, thinkpadcollection

Oh, sorry. I thought you meant the FRU of the panel itself. I'd say that any 600 board would fit in any 600 case and LCD, but these older machines had some quirks sometimes. The only difference I can think of between boards is the CPU- I'm guessing lower end models with the Pentium MMX also had smaller displays. This is all just a guess, though. Keep in mind that there's two numbers for each part, one is the FRU part number and the other is a plain part number.
