Help! Can't power my 1844-69U (nearest but not exact equivalent is the R51E) after opening it up.
I am having a problem finding a wireless/ethernet driver for my 1844-69U so I decided to open up my Thinkpad to see what kind of wireless card I have. Unfortunately, when I closed my Thinkpad I found that it will no longer power up. The battery will charge, but I get no power light nor any sign that the unit is powering up. Prior to my opening up the Thinkpad it was booting up into Windows XP without a problem.
So far as I can remember I did not disconnect any internal Thinkpad parts or flick any switches. All I was doing was searching for the wireless card. It took me a while to find it as the Lenovo R51E parts diagram (there was no diagram of the 1844-69U - I think this was a special build for IBM employees: a friend who was an IBM employee bought me my machine) was not particular clear.
So if anyone could give me any suggestions as to where I might look for a solution to my powering up problem I would be very grateful.
With regard to my wireless driver problem, I find that I have an Anatel T60H786U wireless/ethernet card/chip. Unfortunately, the Lenovo website does not list the driver for this card. I have tried loading the drivers for the R51E but they do not work. As I said above, the 1844-69U seems to have been a special build.
I have tried a Google search on the Antal T60H786U, but have found little and nothing that is conclusive. What links there are to the Lenovo website are no longer active. Lenovo no longer offers support for Thinkpads like the R51E and carries nothing on the 1844-69U except for a few oblique references under Thinkpads R50 to R52
If anyone can direct me to a driver for the T60H786U and other drivers for the 1844-69U I would be very grateful indeed.
I thank you for your assistance and help in advance.
Sincerely,
Graham

According to the MTM lookup found at the top of every forum page [urlhttp://sm.krelay.de/tp/index.php][/url], your laptop corresponds to:
It's likely that you committed and error while reassembling the laptop.
The first thing to look at is the keyboard. The power button is part of the keyboard assembly, so if the keyboard is not connected, there's no easy way to turn on the laptop.
It's also possible that the keyboard's flex cable or connector sustained damage.
Another possible cause is using a screw of the incorrect length. The hardware maintenance manual tells which screw goes to which hole. Using a long screw in place of a short one (or vice-versa) may cause two components to touch each other (when they should be separated), or bend/warp the circuit board. Either of the two may cause issues, including failure to turn on the laptop.
Lastly, damage from electrostatic discharge should not be discounted.
With regards to the miniPCI card, you could have used system information software like PC Wizard, AIDA64, or System Information Viewer to identify the wifi card. At the very least, it will give you the PCI ID of the device, which can help narrow down the search for drivers.

And speaking of drivers... at the top of each forum page there's a link named Drivers. Follow it and select your system and you should get a list of the factory drivers that were offered. The links therein can be a little confusing; some point to the actual driver package (.exe file) that is hosted here at thinkpads.com, while other links go back to the Lenovo Support pages. This driver database was culled from Lenovo.com before it was slated to go off-line, which it did for a while.
