R50-32MB ATI Radeon 9000 - Screen turned to confetti pixels

I had the 15" screen become unreadable and now displays only confetti pixels and colored lines from bootup.

Anyone else have this problem?

Sounds expensive like the system board needs to be replaced.

Has the video memory failed?

The ThinkPad functions normally through a Remote Connection from another computer.

Yeah, those ATI M9000 systems have had a tendency to blow out on the Dell machines as well. Sounds like your video is fried - you are getting the same type of symptoms that the M9000 equipped Dell machines get when the card goes.
