X240 Cpu upgrade ?

Hello all,
I own an x240 with i5-4200U and 4GB of ram. I would like to upgrade it as much as possible. Which is the best cpu I can put on it ? About the ram I know the max is 8gb ddr3l sodimm.

You can't upgrade the CPU on any X-series Thinkpad since they are soldered to the motherboard.

1. While the HMM for the X240 doesn't have the comprehensive FRU listing found in previous generation Thinkpads (to heck with you Lenovo), the exploded parts diagram doesn't show a processor separate from the system board, so that's one confirmation that it's soldered.

2. Processors with the U suffix (i5-4200U) are Ultrabook processors, which are always soldered to the board and never socketed.

3. X-series Thinkpads are ultraportables, and have had soldered CPUs since the first incarnation (X20), in order to reduce height/thickness and weight.

That being said, maybe he can swap the motherboard for one with a better CPU?
