Hello all,
I own an x240 with i5-4200U and 4GB of ram. I would like to upgrade it as much as possible. Which is the best cpu I can put on it ? About the ram I know the max is 8gb ddr3l sodimm.
Thanks

Re: X240 Cpu upgrade ?
You can't upgrade the CPU on any X-series Thinkpad since they are soldered to the motherboard.

Re: X240 Cpu upgrade ?
1. While the HMM for the X240 doesn't have the comprehensive FRU listing found in previous generation Thinkpads (to heck with you Lenovo), the exploded parts diagram doesn't show a processor separate from the system board, so that's one confirmation that it's soldered.
2. Processors with the U suffix (i5-4200U) are Ultrabook processors, which are always soldered to the board and never socketed.
3. X-series Thinkpads are ultraportables, and have had soldered CPUs since the first incarnation (X20), in order to reduce height/thickness and weight.
