Is it worth it to get a PDA/late 2000s "internet tablet"?
So the backstory is that I always thought the Nokia N series internet tablets were the coolest stuff ever back in 2007, but could never afford one. I found some Nokia N810 on amazon.com for around $180 and it'd be cool to just get one as a collectible (not for daily use since any recent trumps its features).
Anyways my questions are:
1. Is it worth it to spend $180?
2. Could I find replacement batteries easily?
3. Are apps like Skype still supported PDAs that had it preinstalled after the Microsoft purchase?

Nokia!
1. As far as usefulness and functionality is concerned, no (it only has a 4.1" screen, after all). Now if someone was giving one away for free, that might be a good deal.UMPC2024 wrote:So the backstory is that I always thought the Nokia N series internet tablets were the coolest stuff ever back in 2007, but could never afford one. 2. Probably
3. Most likely

If you really want one, I have one I can sell you.
An N810 that is. Still has it's packaging, stylus, etc. Works great. LCARS interface addon for the true geek.
It's fun to use at times. It has great audio in that it can get quite loud and sound pretty good.

Microsoft has disabled all the old versions of Skype. I just sold my Nokia E63 due to this. The Android version of Skype is a piece of crap in comparison. I never missed a Skype call with the E63. The Android version fails to ring half the time.UMPC2024 wrote:So the backstory is that I always thought the Nokia N series internet tablets were the coolest stuff ever back in 2007, but could never afford one. Awh, I figured because Microsoft. I guess not all things can be like 2007 where Skype could work on so many different things, like a PSP.
