t410si mainboard in t410
t410si mainboard in t410
Hello. Im new to the forum and thinkpads.
I ordered a t410 form ebay from a seller that buys them from schools and companys. According to what they statet when they went to reformat, they had to press the power button realy hard to turn on the laptop. They reinstalled windows and then were unable to turn it on again.
After to took a month to get here from another state i had a look at the keyboard. Power button was broken. Popped off the trim from around the button and was able to push the real button. Nothing happend.
after looking around and turning it upside down. I found an inductor floating around the inside. Removed the mainboard and found were it was ment to be. Turns out the mainboard had been stabbed with a small screwdriver Threw the ram access panel. I resoldered the inductor and crossed my fingers. Re assembled. still would not power on. Did the power button trick and it booted. Screen flashed but nothing came up. No beeps or anything. Cpu started to get warm but no response from keyboard or anything.removed ram and hdd and turned on again
And it beeps as expected. Replaced. Now will only boot for 5 seconds.
I have been looking online but cant find an answer there was one forum stating that to upgrade to the nvidia graphics you would have to swap mainboards. But nothing to say if they mainboard ftom a t410si would physicly go into a standered t410. Looking at the photos they look alot diffrent. Would it fit and if so is it worth it? The t410si is only $15 bucks more than the standered.
Also is there any way to test if the lcd is ok? I dont want to order a new mainboard and find it still does not work.
any help would be much apreciated.

Hello!
This won't work, watch this out.....
the same hmm for T400s, T410s, T410si and
the same hmm for T410, T410i
a simple comparison....http://thinkwiki.de/images/9/92/01_T410_Seiten.JPG and
http://www.notebookcheck.com/Test-Lenov ... 112.0.html
...so such a change up wouldn't work,...such as you decided to do...
Best whishes,

Re: t410si mainboard in t410
Hi!
Well, find someone with an T410 or T410i and ask him or her if you would get the chance to test your display, you just need to plug it on the motherboard.....plug the installed display out and plug yours in...to test it.....if it will work properly...
you also may try to find an T410 or T410i with a good and working mainboard and an bad display....for little money..
Kind regards,
PanDoRa
