LED mod shopping

#1 Post by eru3 » Fri May 22, 2015 10:35 am

Hi everyone

I cannot find a single place in UK to buy very thin, very dense LED strips. They are desired for LED mods in T61/T61P screens. Do you know of any places providing these? Supposedly of similar size as those from XCCFL.

What about pulling them from dead/defectctive LED Tv's or laptops?

Please post updates if you do a mod.

Since you seem to know your way around our German sister-forum, check the LED-mod posts there for X60/X61, T60, T61 etc.
They did "Sammelbestellungen".

Hello again.

For now my finances went towards getting the ultrabay battery, new CPU, new WIFI cards for recently mentioned T61. Next step will be modifying it's screen for LED. So in that direction...

I have found a guy on Polish "Ebay" - http://www.allegro.pl - who speaks technical English and is ready to be sending abroad. Suddenly, he even informed me that soon a British number line will be opened. So far he seems to be very competent. Also accepts PayPal payments.

So...

PayPal is: ebay@aw-computers.pl
Email(you can contact the guy in English and ask the details): allegro@aw-computers.pl
Phone number for UK(soon): 747 334400

I will be ordering from him some time for sure. Anyone needing a help, feel free to ask. Roughly he said for a postage to UK it would be 22PLN brutto(with VAT), which roughly gives 5 pounds. He was even nice enough to present me with the kit and warn me against the LED reflections at bottom of screen:

He has variety of such LED strips for backlight - different power supplies, cuts them to length. Talk to the guy, he should point you to the right direction. You will probably need to make an account on Allegro - you can ask me to help you.

For now it seems he sees us - I told him where I am from - as a profitable business and is willing to do everything to make us happy. That is from me.

These are his auctions:

http://allegro.pl/listing/listing.php?o ... fault-0519

Description of this transaction:

http://allegro.pl/uniwersalny-pasek-led ... 13350.html

"SPECIFICATION:

- Length is 415mm. Before posting we cut the strip to the required length for the customer(please contact us)
- Supporting the panels from 15" to 19"W
- power supply 12V
- width of strip is 4mm
- comes as two strips, two cables connecting to the controller, controller, 6-pin cable to steering circuit
- condition: new
- 24 months warranty
- safe packaging: plastic tube, bubble wrap and letter with bubble wrap"

60PLN is roughly 12 pounds. It is really worth for the prices, I think. If anyone needs more info please contact me or ask the seller - he really seems to be willing to help.

I'd rather go with the German crowd's source, they have done lots of those mods with items bought from http://www.iccfl.com/index.php?cPath=20 ... 8rhtdh9j10
See the "Order" #1 for more info: http://thinkpad-forum.de/threads/152797
They are now at #11: http://thinkpad-forum.de/threads/186411 ... bestellung

Up to everyone, it just seems a cheaper option. Given the modification of original inverter allows to supply them in a power. I personally, would like to install 3-4 LED strips in screen. The price would be much higher in ICCFL in that case.
