So I picked up an i7-3820QM laptop CPU at the dumpster*. Is there anything fun I can do with it?
So far I've considered building a desktop with
this motherboard and a small mini-ITX case. Any other thoughts?
*Well, not a bare CPU sitting inside the dumpster, of course. Someone threw away a huge MSI gaming laptop, so I took it home and stripped it. The motherboard is completely charred around the power plug (wonder how much a scare the previous owner got

), but I got 4 * 4GB DDR3 RAM, 2 * 64GB SanDisk mSATA SSD, 1 * 750GB Hitachi hard drive, 1 * 17 inch LCD panel, the aforementioned CPU, a bunch of screws and all kinds of interesting bits. Not a bad dumpster dive I would say.
