Storage Options

#1 Post by jronald » Sun May 24, 2015 5:16 pm

I recently updated to a native SATA MoBo and am trying to connect two highend Sony DVD/RW that are IDE. I already have a no name brand IDE/SATA PCI card installed so Im not that interested in trying that way again, although it muight be the best option I have left a 16x PCIe, a PCIe and a PCI slot left. I also have 2 SATA slots left on BOTH the PCI card and the MoBo.
Anyone use any of the following?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Port-SATA-II- ... 27f1b9f2d3
These seem plauged with bad drivers

http://www.ebay.com/itm/40-Pin-IDE-Fema ... 463a77f561
These seem to good to be true

Then there is this (again)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-SATA-1-eSATA- ... 27f1b96252

Options?

I have some experience with such (but not the same - mine is red, haven't SATA power connector and black insulator) adapter. Yes it have worked well for me. No need for drivers and it can make your old IDE device bootable.

But on one mainboard it have some troubles. Linux have long delay in early boot process with this adapter.

I have a Maxtor PCI (no e) 133, controller card. Contrary to everything I have tried I cant get the thing to operate correctly. Error Code 10. There are instructions floating around on W7 forums and Microslougth, except none of the 15 driver packages I have been able to find, have the files in them, that require you to load. Works like a charm on 98se, 2000, ME and Xp...will NOT work on 7.
