T22 hardware question

#1 Post by Boricua65 » Tue May 31, 2005 1:15 pm

I just recently acquired the TP T22 (2647-8GU) and the battery doesn't work anymore. I tried to use just the AC adapter, but that doesn't turn on the laptop. Should I be able to use the thinkpad without having the battery on?

Yes, I was running that way yesterday (don't know if it's recommended or not).

Since I'm not able to even boot up with the AC adapter only, does that mean T22 is no good. I posted earlier I was getting an error message, which is 0190 Critical low-battery error. I suppose I need to put in a new battery?

Not recommended... It will run slower and you risk other misc damage if it comes unplugged.

I just answered your other (detailed) post and you need to test your AC adapter which is likely the problem.

Yes, that's most likely the case. I had a similar problem, and Bill convinced me to get a Volt meter (actually I got a multimeter from Radioshack at a good price). I verified it was a problem with the AC adapter, and it was kind of fun also.

Cool, thanks everyone for all your help. I went ahead and got a battery from eBay. I will get the AC adapter tonight, as well. Again, thanks everyone, especially to AbsoluteRaleigh.

Good luck with that. Why did you get a battery though? Your old battery is most likely fine.

It was the AC adapter, after all. Well, at least I have a new battery to go with it. I also got a new CMOS battery off eBay. :?
