Just looking for an eraserhead/cap/nub for an EliteBook 8560p... does anyone in the USA here have one? Thanks.

Why not use a ThinkPad one? :P

It should fit...

Do you know which one(s) exactly would fit?

Not totally sure about that one--I tried jamming a trackpoint nub on my 8460w's stick and it wouldn't fit flush/straight.

It's been a while since I've last played with an EliteBook, but I did make the nub fit. Finagling is required. If the base under the nub is a round one, a few drops of IC Diamond inside the nub itself helps. At least it did on my daughter's old HP... :??:

I might have been the first person on this forum to discover (back in 2007) that Thinkpad TrackPoint caps could be transferred to an HP business-class laptop, which happened to be an nc2400. I attempted it because I hated that HP's original trackpoint very much. It wasn't a perfect fit though, as the cap stuck out one mm or so. So, I had to shorten it a bit, by using a blade to cut the bottom of the TrackPoint.

Just now, out of curiosity, I tried replacing my HP 8740w's trackpoint with my X31's Soft Rim TrackPoint, which also fit but was again too tall.

I ordered some ThinkPad T series nubs on eBay for a couple of bucks, so I'll report back when they come.

Please don't lock this thread as I promise to let y'all know how it goes.

i threw a spare trackpoint cap on my micron millennia transport circa 1996~1997 after the stock one wore out rather quickly.   not sure if i was the first on the thinkpad mailing list to do so.   probably not. :??:

Works like a charm! I ordered 10 for less than $3.

Put it on my ZBook as well.

Biggest problem with HP is the lack of **functional** middle button. :/
Dell's seems much better (at least on M6700)

I program the top right button to use as a middle one.
