W541 and TPFanControl?

#1 Post by Geophyte1 » Sat Jun 13, 2015 1:01 pm

Will TPFanControl work - or for that matter will I need it - on the W541 I just ordered?

Thanks

Should. It works fine on my T440p and W541 is just a refreshed 40-series with real buttons for the Trackpoint. Same chipset/CPUs/GPUs.

Whether you "need" it is really up to you. I'm sure some people have no problem with the BIOS fan setting but others either want to minimize noise, minimize the on/off cycling, or maximize cooling.
Current Thinkpads:
X31, X40, X61T, X61, X201, X220 (i7 IPS), W520 (2720QM/2000M/FHD), T440p (i7-4800MQ/GF730GT/FHD)
Dells: Latitude C840, Precision M70, Precision M4400, M6400 (WUXGA), M6600, M6700
Daily driver: Dell XPS 13 w/Kaby Lake+Iris Pro+TB3

Thank you. I just received the W541 and I'll try to remember to post my thoughts about it after using it awhile.
