Itching to purchase the FHD screen already.
I'm thinking of the B140HAN01.3 14.0 Matte Edition for my T420s. From your ebay description it's listed as a compatible screen.
Ahem. "Full steam ahead," getting ready for the "steamworks" :D.

Counting the days, as to a prophetic expectation, but no worries, it shall come to pass.

Watching this space.

I kinda have a felling that this will sell as hotcakes, or as in Romanian, like hot bread.
Don't put the cart before the horse :P There was this one guy on ebay who bargained with me for the first batch and then ended up with a spare FHD screen XDDDDDDDD

Besides, I'm not so certain for getting the kit... Production is limited... and 15 kits is not a small number. :)

Do you know any reliable sellers that do not send "compatible" parts?

No unfortunately... All I can remind you is
1. Do not buy anything from any seller with less than 98% positive feedback
2. Buying from Chinese sellers is a tricky thing, You will need to look into their feedbacks individually, if you seen one feedback saying the stuff they are selling is refurbished/counterfeit, then better choose another seller.
3. If there isn't a more than 75% difference in price, always try to choose local seller.

======Update Jul. 25th, 2015=======
I'm 95% certain that I can get my hands on 15 T420/T430 non-s kits and 10 T420s/T430s kits. So I'll start taking orders now. PM me and I'll let you know my paypal address. Price is $50 + postage for non-s kits and $45 + postage for -s kits. Please send payments as "to friends or family"

I think I'll keep two kits of each kind for redundancy.

For those of you who has already sent me messages before, I'll reply directly with my paypal address

Maybe after two weeks I'll start posting it on feebay, if there will still be any left

=======Update Jul.31 2015======
I'm now in Chicago have received the kits. I'll start distributing the T420s/T430s kits in the next few days.

For the non-s kits, some people in China have reported problems with T420 and B140HAN01.2. Me and Javi-Jie is investigating on this issue. There will be some delay in shipping, more likely after Aug.7th. Sincere apologies for this.

Thanks for the heads up. This is the screen I was thinking about getting, so I'll be anxious to hear any news on this front.

i was going to pull the trigger on this, but the 420 modkits have apparently been halted due to flickering issues. 420s kits still easy. the 2k option, tempted as i am by it... looks like they use glossy screens. sigh...

=======Update Aug. 8 2015======
I've finished testing 10/15 kits I have, and bizzaringly, all the kits tested so far work flawlessly and I have not had any flicker problem, so I'll start distributing kits tomorrow or maybe on Monday.
Testing was done for 3 hours web-browsing, 1080p youtube video and 1080p blue-ray LOTR

Meanwhile, Javi-Jie has reported today, that under refresh rate of 50Hz the flicker problem is more likely to happen. And there is a slightly higher chance for T420 to flicker than T430. But I doubt this makes any difference statistically, since there are less than 100 non-s kits floating around so far.

So, for the non-s kits please turn off "automatically reduce refresh rate after x min" in power manager, if that little extra power consumption matters to you, then probably you should be better looking for BGA converted to PGA i7-3517u.

╮(╯_╰)╭

Just saying, if the kits that is sent to you flickers, please report to me with your laptop type (T420/T430 & with dedicated graphics or not) and the precise information of your screen type, and I'll send you a replacement.

Have a nice weekend everyone~

Not sure if it is relevant, but what kind of screen(s) did you use in your tests? ... when possible, I prefer
to stick to the beaten path.

yep, not trying to piss in your cheerios or anything. i just reached out to javi-jie to do it since hey, im in china already. and the 420s to me... well, i'd prefer a larger battery and was wanting a dedicated and the 420 was slightly cheaper than the 420s (difficult to find dedicated) on the market.

but. battery, eh i can cope. usb3 is worth more to me. and the 4200M isnt that much better than the hd3000. both are far better than my x1300.

t430s would be tempting due to ivy bridge, better graphics, 32gb ram support (albeit the keyboard is garbage). but, i'm not looking for another 5 year machine here. I'm looking for a 2~3 year machine that doesn't burn my legs.

How can a T430/s support 32GB RAM?

Is it known at this point whether T420 problems are more likely to occur with or without
dedicated graphics (HD3000 or NVS 4200m)?

What was the configuration of the machine you used as a testbed?
(processor, integrated or dedicated graphics, OS)?

Javi-Jie didn't tell me anythin regrading the graphics tyoe, so I'd assume there's no obvious correlation
I've tested using a T420 with i5 2520m, HD3000, 8GB RAM, Samsung 840pro 256GB, and 135W power supply. operating system is windows 7 professional 64-bit (English version) restored using recovery disks.
Now I can't be certain about whether or not the 135W power supply makes a difference

I've tested using a T420 with i5 2520m, HD3000
That's pretty similar to what I have, so I would like to proceed.
I'd be appreciative if other T420/T430 (non-s) users who do the upgrade could post their experiences
here, with details (type of screen, integrated vs. dedicated graphics, cpu, and OS) so that we can perhaps
narrow the problem down.

Well, I've got the NVS 4200m GPU, a factory-restore W7P64 OS (other specs in sig) and I'm planning on ordering the B140HAN01.2 tonight, unless the .1 is just as good but less likely to flicker.

Adapters haven't been shipped from RMSMajestic yet as far as I know. I was going to buy the screen from a seller that confirmed details on eBay.

How can a T430/s support 32GB RAM?
2x16gb. From what i have heard it'll support it.

Keyboard's the dealkiller though. If there was a bios update that allowed for the 420 keyboard to actually work (and not have a dead 7th row)... id grab it in an instant.

You've heard wrong. Nothing earlier than Broadwell supports these chips. Notebookcheck crew have tested them in a Haswell system and got no boot. Ivy Bridge? Forget about it.

Is it still possible to order a conversion kit for a T430?

RMS...

I'm just curious if you found it necessary to remove the heat sink on an integrated graphics T420,
as per the instructions. I can't tell whether the model in the instructions has the integrated-only
or integrated+discrete heat sink.

Hi RMS

Is it possible to order one of these kits still? Would be looking into one for a T420. Integrated graphics, in case that matters. I have no screen yet, that has to come later. Generally I like the T420, except from it's 16:9 format, so I would like to have the chance to sometime in the future replace the horrible panel it came with.
