T410s VGA Out Flickering

#1 Post by sir_synthsalot » Sun Jun 14, 2015 6:23 pm

When I use the VGA output on my T410s I see lines flickering on the screen. Especially on white backgrounds I can see very subtle flickering lines going down the screen. I've tested my monitor and it's not the monitor or the cable. Anybody encountered this problem?

My laptop developed a crack in the base screw hole in the corner near the VGA plug and power connection. Essentially the screw is separated from the laptop case and no longer does it's job. I wonder if it's related to the problem I am having and if the VGA port is damaged in some way because of it.

If you take the palmrest off, it should expose the VGA connector. You could look for broken/loose contacts, or apply preassure to the connector to see if there are any improvements.

Other than resoldering loose connections or chips, your other option would be to replace the motherboard.
