T43 power problems
T43 power problems
Hello. Recently I purchased a good condition T43 and have had no issues whatsoever, the battery is dead but I don't need it. Laptop suddenly died yesterday when I was using it, I believe I might have pressed the AC cable connector while holding it in my lap and broke either end of the connection. Nothing looks broken but laptop won't power on as it's battery is dead and it doesn't "recognize" the AC being plugged in.
I will test the AC adapter and cable tomorrow but I don't know how to test the laptop and the power unit. Anybody got any suggestions?

Re: T43 power problems
If you leave the battery in and have the unit plugged in, the battery light should still light up, signaling that the computer is plugged in. If you wiggle the power connector while it is connected to the laptop, does this light light up at anytime? You can also take off the keyboard bezel to expose the power jack and try replugging its cable.

Re: T43 power problems
I removed the bezel but I don't really have access to the power jack, I can just barely see it below the display connector.
Nothing is lighting up when I plug in the AC cable.

Re: T43 power problems
There is a connector behind the jack that should run backward and plug into the motherboard almost directly to the left edge of the battery frame compartment. If you remove the modem and unplug the LCD cable along with the bezel, it could give you a better look at the connection.

Re: T43 power problems
I gained access to the connector and inspected both outer female jack and internal 4-wire connection to the motherboard and both seem to be in working condition. I tested the adapter and it happily supplies 16.50 V.
I will take the laptop to a friend of mine who has much more knowledge and experience in these matters and he will test it further.
Thank you for taking your time to help me brchan!
