T410s and Mini Dock 3

Hi again, folks!

Question about the dock.....AND of course the T410s....

this machine has an Esata Port (Kombiport with USB), the question is, when the T410s is docked, will this Esata port be still usable on the T410s or won't it be usable while the T410s is docked?

I ask this question of a higher purpose, the dock i have is the usb 3.0 dock (mini dock series 3 4337), for esata on the dock someone needs the mini dock plus series 3 4338.

you can use the esata port from your laptop or from the dock
if you have AC power connected to your dock, you have the option to use any ports from your laptop or from your dock

but if you are using the dock from battery (no AC power connected), you can only use ports from your laptop

that is what I know since I'm using W510 + 4337 dock and T61 + 2505 dock

The 90W power adapter should be enough for the T410s and anything i'm connecting to it..and the dock..or would it be wise to get an 135W power adapter?

naaah,
90W AC charger will do its job best for your T410s
if you have W510, then 135W charger is the recommended AC charger
W701 is bound to use 210W AC charger
W520 on the other hand, must use 170W AC charger

Well, then it's good at it is....

and the X220 with I7 even would also fit on the dock but for this machine this dock is a completely fault construction...the heat is not be led good enough off the machine.....so it starts trotteling in case of high cpu usage....an the heat stucks near between the dock an the X220...

as a result i use the X220 I7 only in the ultrabase and the T410s in this mini dock 3.

Hi ho!

I have just another question....is it really true that if the thinkpad itself has no usb 3.0 the port on the dock will also have no usb 3.0 speed when the thinkpad is docked in...or does this only depend on the dock itself, such as some docks have this serial fault or so....would you or some one else please light this darkness i have in this...thanx a lot!

Yes, it is true. The docks have no USB controllers, just hubs/passthrough ports. They depend on the laptop to provide the functionality.

Unfortunately, no T410s will support USB3 via any of the mini-docks.
