PCI-e desktop drive

#1 Post by precip9 » Tue Jun 30, 2015 5:07 pm

There are smart people here, so...

I have an 8-core Xeon system I want to use for painting murals. It already has 16GB of RAM. Since the system is a few years old, I'm not sure I want to spend for more RAM. It would be a considerable expense, because the RAM is on 6 channels divided between the two CPUs, in 2GB modules. In order to obtain the same channel division, it would be necessary to junk the modules and buy 6 new ones -- big expense for a motherboard that is no longer made, a Tyan S7025.

So I'm thinking of a PCI-e SSD for swap, portable to a future build on a new mobo.

Who makes a good PCI-e SSD for swap? Doesn't has to be big, but it should be very, very fast.
