R61: caddy for slim drive in Ultrabay enhanced?
Hi, right now I'm using my UJ-862(T61) slim DVD-RW in my R61's Enhanced Ultrabay - the thing is that the space between the drive and the rest of the bay is quite significant and dust and other things can get in.
Also before the drive were not sitting correctly so it would not burn, I have now fitted it with plastic on both top and bottom, so it will stay in place.
So what I'm asking: is there a caddy to use for this?
Please provide partnumbers or links:)
Thanks in advance:)

No there isn't.
But instead of 9.5mm Ultrabay Slim drives you should use 12.7mm Ultrabay Enhanced drives, which are specifically made for R5x and R6x machines.

Ok, I get your point but its still an expensive purchase compared to a caddy - for the drive I allready have, which works fine!
I guess i just have to make one myself - Like I have done so many times before, for things that can't be purchased:)

$10-15 for a working Enhanced Drive as opposed to spending time to create something that is really not a work of art...personally, I put much higher value on my own time, but to each their own...

The price here in Denmark is not 10-15$ its 133$ for a drive that will fit. For that price I can buy a second hand T500 or R500 thinkpad.
But I'm happy with my R61, I travel alot so big screen is not my thing - then again too small is not my thing either.

If they go for $10-15 on eBay, you can surely get them cheaper than $133, no matter where in the world you are...

Indeed...dr_st wrote:If they go for $10-15 on eBay, you can surely get them cheaper than $133, no matter where in the world you are...
You could pick one up on the forum for $15, pay $10-15 shipping and another $10 in import duty, and you'd be at $35-40....
