Having more fun with T60

#1 Post by ThinkB » Thu Jul 09, 2015 4:37 pm

I use a T420 as my daily laptop. I have also a reserve laptop, a T60 widescreen with Ubuntu. I would like to hear what I could do to have more fun with the T60.

I read here recently something about the 15.4" T61/p motherboard fitting in the 15.4" T60/p chassis. Is that accurate?

Yes, you can swap the mobo/chassis combo or a standalone mobo from a 15.4" T61/p into T60/p or v.v.

Cool. Does it require any modifications to the chassis?

Nope.
Added bonus: the T60 infrared gets replaced by T61 1394/Firewire.
You may need to remove the T60 palmrest cover from over the T61 memory-card slot.

Cool. My widescreen T60 has a supervisor password on it, so I might try swapping the motherboard if I can find the right one for cheap enough.

[Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack this thread. If the original poster isn't interested in this question about the motherboard swap, I'd be happy for a moderator to split the posts off.]

Is the T60 equipped with a ATI card?

PS - isn't the old 400 firewire about as obsolete as the IR port?
