inf installation issue on R61 (Type: 8927-) solved

#1 Post by thinkpadcollection » Fri Jul 24, 2015 8:34 pm

I usually have no problem reinstalling clean windows on computers but this R61 stumped me. This is nvidia board that is working flawlessly on XP for long while now running 7 64 clean install now.

I would start the installation of intel chipset (aka inf drivers), as usual from lenovo and would work but this system never hungrily grabbed chipset drivers automatically. How can I kickstart this properly?

Cheers, thinkpadcollection

Update: It was special command that did the trick: navigate to setup.exe in the directory where intel chipset drivers were deposited and execute:

setup -overall -overide

Then wait. prompts will pop up and this time this will install and windows starts to take notice and take the inf files. Take note the last word is right, not a mistake. :)

Cheers, thinkpadcollection

On my T61 I had to manually download several drivers. The Lenovo automatic driver update program didn't pick things like fingerprint reader or access connections up or battery manager.

Since the R61 is from the same family by model, I imagine the same is true about the R61 drivers. I actually went to Intel's website for the 4965AGN drivers and found that I didn't have the Intel integrated graphics drivers installed either.
