#1 Post by tomjrc » Thu Jul 30, 2015 3:45 pm

My T420 is running great after going to Win7. I,m reluctant to go up to Win10 any advise would be more than welcome.

Then don't. W7 will be supported for quite some time.

I would stick with Windows 7 until Windows 10 matures a bit (SP1). There are bound to be bugs at first release.
Current Thinkpads: W530 (functional classic keyboard mod), X301, T61, T60, T43, T23, 600X, 770
Other: mk5 Toughbook cf-19, mk1 Toughbook cf-53

Unfortunately, I haven't found any bugs per se but have seen *major* concerns...

Are you serious? Different people have different needs or concerns or preferences. You can't blindly follow anyone's lead, even if that person knows more than you. ajkula66 is extremely knowledgeable, but he is probably much more concerned about privacy and automatic updates than you are. If you have ever used Facebook or any of Google's products (e.g. Google search, Android OS and apps, Gmail), you have already lost tons of your privacy without even knowing it. You don't have much privacy unless you do what RealBlackStuff does, as he spelled out in this post: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 1&#p763241

And while ajkula66 wants to block automatic Windows updates, you might benefit from automatic updates. In fact, one thing I like about 10 is that after I click "Check for updates", I don't need to click again to install the updates, since Windows does it automatically (if there are new updates).

Don't wait too long, because 10 will stay free for only 363 more days.
