the drivers are on the ibm/levono site. you might want to pick up the recovery cdrom from ibm/levono ($).

http://www.ibm.com/support/us/

Look on the bottom of your TP for the model number and enter it in the box, that will take you to the right page.

Goto http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... date=false

and enter your information - it will take you to a drivers matrix.

Btw - i think you are missing something - that's your serial number. There should be a four character machine model and a three digit type.

mine is 2653-N5U found on a barcode sticker on the bottom.

you can also find it in the BIOS by pressing F1 during boot up and looking there.

OK Now we are getting somewhere:

IBM Thinkpad R51 Type 2883 Model 2XU Serial Number 13N5615

P M 1.5GHz, 256MB RAM, 20GB 4200rpm HDD, 14.1 XGA(1024x768) TFT LCD, Intel Extreme, 24x24x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD, Intel 802.11b/g wireless(MPCI), Modem(CDC), 10/100 Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, 6 cell Li-Ion battery, WinXP Pro

now just go enter that information in the webpage I posted and you'll find the drivers matrix.
