Yup, go back to W7 or W8.1.

When does this happen? Immediately after putting them to sleep / hibernation or at totally random times?

I turned off the Allow wake timers and I am testing it. I also turned off allow mouse to wake up computer. The funny thing is that the computer still wakes up from the mouse. Yes random times, I can't explain it why.

I was struggling with this as well. I discovered that I was letting Windows Update run in the middle of the night, which would wake up the computer, even when on battery only. Also needed to uninstall Intel control center, which was checking for updates frequently. If you discover that your computer is on when it shouldn't be, you can troubleshoot by opening a command box ("run") and typing "powercfg/lastwake" which may tell you what processes woke up the computer.

Also under Computer Management, you can open the event viewer and examine the Power Troubleshooter events to see if they show which programs are waking your computer.

A lot of programs and devices like to phone home frequently, so it's worthwhile going through every program to examine when they wake the computer and to turn it off or decrease frequency if necessary. For devices, you can look at properties of each device in the Device Manager, which may have an Advanced tab for some devices that specify when they are allowed to wake the computer.

This can be frustrating, but eventually you should be able to figure out what's waking your computer & get it under control. Your battery will thank you.

I think that, holding the power button during restart to shutdown, as alternative to never shut down, might work. BUT! I just found the setting for "fast startup" and disabled it. This might be a typical opposite-of-truth to hide the ridiculous boottimes now standard in this OS brand.

By default, Windows 10 uses your computer as a server for its updates (and who knows what else) even when it should be sleeping. To turn that off:
Search for “Check for updates” in the Start menu.
Under “Windows Update” choose “Advanced options.”
Under “Choose how updates are installed” click “Choose how updates are delivered.”
Disable the toggle under “Updated from more than one place.”
But to be certain of turning all such shenanigans off, you have to drive a stake through your computer's heart.
Work: T42p (XP, UXGA IPS); T60p (XP, UXGA IPS); T60/61 FPad (Win 7, UXGA IPS).
Play: X1 (first gen, Win 7); T450s (Win 7).
