Replacement Lenovo battery - not supported and will not charge

Hi,

Ive ordered a replacement battery for my lenovo t530 and it wont charge.

Original specs:
ASM PN 42t4794

Replacement specs:
ASM PN 42t4924

Has my supplier simply shipped me the wrong battery? or is there something I can change in the power management to enable it to work? (Ive already tried the shut down, unplug, reboot, uninstall battery drivers fix)

what is the machine model and type number..

googling around i don't see either of those part numbers coming up for a T530..

are you sure you did not mis-type the numbers..

who did you order this battery from..?

is it a lenovo branded battery or an aftermarket battery..?

The battery you got is from a T420/T520 (a.k.a. Tx20).
If charged in a Tx20, it will also work in a Tx30 but cannot be charged in a Tx30.
The Tx30 batteries will work/charge in both Tx20 and Tx30.

You could still charge it with the ThinkPad external battery charger and just swap them as needed.

Yes the replacement is a official lenovo battery. Purchased through our regular hardware provider.

This just confirms that they have ordered the wrong battery
