Slow Boot Prior to Loading BIOS

#1 Post by somefun » Mon Aug 10, 2015 5:52 pm

I have an X301 4057-18U that takes 10 minutes from pushing the power button to the "Press the ThinkVantage button to interrupt normal startup..." message. During this time there is no sign of life from the computer at all, except the normal battery and charge lights, the light on the power button, and the Bluetooth light.

Once the boot starts (Press the Thinkvantage button...), everything proceeds at normal speed, the Bluetooth light goes off, and things load and run perfectly.

I'm not sure what's going on here, and think that Bluetooth light coming on has something to do with it.

My bios version is 3.16 and I think it's the newest version available.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Thanks!

Try disabling bluetooth. I had a similar issue with my T43 (or T61?) where it would take about a minute to boot until I disabled bluetooth. If that does not work, then try replugging the CMOS battery to reset any settings. Also, make sure all hardware is plugged in tight.

I have already disabled the Bluetooth in the BIOS settings. But I'll try the CMOS battery. Great idea. Thanks!

If that doesn't work and the system is on an Ultrabase, remove the DVD drive and see what happens.

If the CMOS battery solves the problem, be sure to load the defaults in BIOS and then check all of the settings/options to see if that's what you want.
