W520 external monitor flickers in docked configuration

#1 Post by ThinkPadophile » Tue Aug 11, 2015 10:36 am

I need some help. I have my recently purchased W520 docked in a Series 3 Mini Dock (model 4338-30U) and the external display flickers on and off consistently, to the point that the laptop is unusable. Here are the specifics:
* W520, Windows 7 Ultimate.
* OS is fully updated and all Lenovo software and drivers are installed and updated.
* External monitor is an HPZR24W IPS LCD monitor running at its native resolution (1920X1200).
* The problem only occurs when the laptop is docked. The graphics work fine when displayed to the laptop's screen.
Any suggestions?

I solved my problem. It turned out to be a bad video cable. I didn't know something could go bad just sitting there. :roll:

Tolerances for a faulty cable might be lower when docked.
