R61 won't boot without power adapter

#1 Post by vitriol_drinker » Sun Aug 16, 2015 4:55 pm

Hello,

So i have been given this R61 8933-CTO. It was said to have a dead battery.

I updated it with Midletown bios, T9300, wireless intel 4965agn and an intel SSD.

Yesterday a friend of mine lend me a 41++ battery, i was quite happy to finaly have a "complete package" (well i still might get a WSXGA+ screen)

But the laptop just doesn't want to boot when the AC adapter is not plugged. I get no led activity, nothing...

Both batteries seems detected in windows, I even tried to recalibrate the 41++ battery, so I saw it go from 100% to 0 to 100% again.

Still, it won't boot without beeing plugged.

I tried the "unplug battery & AC adapter, 10 push on power button & then 30sec push on power button" still nothing.

What do you think is happening to this laptop ? Faulty motherboard?
