What will increasing ram do?

Greetings

My T430 has a SSD as its primary and secondary drives. It also has 8GB ram.

What will increasing to 16GB ram do to improve my laptop?

Will it ease loading, uploading and downloading files? Significantly?

Will it speed up the movement of large files both internally and to internet sites? Significantly?

Please give me your thoughts.

Increasing ram will allow you to have more open programs. System responsiveness may be improved if there is a lack of ram. However, improvements tend to decrease after 8GB (given that there is sufficient ram). A good ssd will offer much better speed improvements than more ram (provided there is enough).

In your case, downloading and uploading files is much more dependant on your network setup. If it is slow, then it does not matter how fast your computer is. It will just upload at the fastest rate the network can take. You could improve upload/download speeds by getting a better network card for your laptop and by ugrading your router.
