I just got in a IBM PCI Ethernet card and USB 2.0 PCI card for my IBM Selectadock III. Currently I only have 3 ThinkPads that work with it, ThinkPad 760XD, 770Z and 600X. I tried my 755CD, 360Cs, and 760C all with beep error sounds, so none of them work with the dock. I have a Selectadock I and III, I need a II for my 770 if anyone has one for sale.
I really wish this dock would support all my ThinkPads as it is a desktop add on to the laptop, 3 PCI slots, full size desktop CD Drive, HDD 3.5 slot, and the 770 Floppy drive or DVD drive, plus built in speakers. http://pctuning.tyden.cz/ilustrace3/ryb ... ck-iii.jpg
It would be nice if Lenovo made a SelectaDock IV to support ThinkPads 40s to current with dock plug in. But I don't see it happening now. So have the Large dock for Early T20,T30/R30,R40,X20,X30 Large dock for T40/R50, Large dock for X40, Large dock for T60/R60/Z60 and Large dock for X60/X60Tablet. They have the built in ThinkPad CD drive bay and more ports

Olders are Selectadock I, Selectadock II, Selectadock III and Dock for 560X/Z and 380Z: http://www.recycledgoods.com/ibm-05k616 ... -560z.html

Re: IBM SelectaDock IV
Hah, that selectadock looks like a cash register. It wouldn't be profitable for Lenovo because very few people would buy it. It made sense when a laptop was a huge investment back in those days, so of course you'd want to get as much functionality out of it as you could (sometimes laptops had superior performance as well). But now, prices from competitors and the changes in mobile electronics (note that I said "changes" and not "advancements") disallow such a thing from happening.
Basically, power house laptop docks are an old-school thing. Today people want cheap *small* laptops coupled with a generic desktop.
My favourite are the 701C docks; you need some sort of adapter which plugs into the 701C and some specific series of dock. This gives you ISA expansion slots and other stuff.

Re: IBM SelectaDock IV
There are older docks which would support your 360, 755, etc.

I had read from this forum somewhere said that the selectadock (3547) was based on PCI bus, older computers was based on ISA bus so they are not compatible. Not sure about my memory.
I have the selectadock III, and 600x. I like this monster very much. So I want to try out the 3545 and 3546 too. But I don't have any computer that will work with them. I plan to buy them (computer and docks) one by one from ebay, a long way to go.

Re: IBM SelectaDock IV
When I still had my 760XD I desperately wanted the Selectadock III because it would let me have USB 2.0 (via the PCI slot) as well as an IDE optical drive.
Cardbus USB 2.0 adapters were finicky on the 760XD's Texas Instruments PC-1131 Cardbus controller, and the built-in CD drive was proprietary and difficult to find replacements for.
Fast forward to today and I'm still struggling with the Expresscard USB 3.0 adapter on my X220 under Linux. USB 3.0 flash disks work fine, but my external HDD causes the card to conk out and prevent me from doing a clean shutdown. :<
A dock with a PCIe slot would do wonders, because purchasing an eGPU dock just to install a USB 3.0 card is rather ridiculous.
