Keyboard question?

#1 Post by Rex » Fri Jun 03, 2005 4:44 pm

Hi there,

I love my Luddite T22; it's just great! I like the keyboard; it's just great!

Unfortunately, I think I will have to get a desktop computer with better screen to handle 100mb digital image files.

But I don't want to let go of my Thankpad keyboard.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a Thinkpad keyboard to work with a desktop computer? Can I buy it seperately? Can I adapt one? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Many thanks in advance,

Rex

I'm not totally aware of KVM functionality, but a KVM switch should be able to do what you need it to, although the thinkpad LCD might get in the way, otherwise, if you buy a dock, you could always get a dual monitor setup with vga out and DVI

Couldn't you just plug in an external monitor? Your refresh rates may be too limited on hi-res CRT displays. If you're Photoshopping 100MB image files, though, I'd think the CPU and memory limitations of the T22 might be a little crippling....

Yes! It's called the IBM USB Keyboard with Ultranav... $99.00 on IBM's website. It's an exact replica of the Thinkpad keyboard (with a touchpad, trackpoint, and even a number pad for desktop use), although I must warn you, it's the bouncier Chinese keyboard, not the Thai.

Now we'll be getting posts from people saying they hate the touchpad on the keyboard, and is there a touchpad-free bezel for it...

Wow, never thought my question would generate so much interest.

Thanks for the USB keyboard link. Have not used the Chinese version, but just like the layout and small size.
