Using T60 fingerprint reader to log onto Windows

I used to do this, it was simple to set up and use. I then bought another T60 and it turned out that it's fingerprint reader had a hardware failure. I swapped palmrests at one point and since this T60 has the bad palmrest/reader, I'm in the habit of signing in with a password. I swapped the palmrests again tonight and this machine still wants a password.

How do I get it to accept fingerprint authentication? When I ask in Control Panel it sends me to this website, folks I've never heard of before, being authentec.com:

I have never seen their site. What's up with this?

My other T60, the one with the bad fingerprint reader now, put up quite a fuss when I tried to logon using my windows password. It made me enter that password 6-8 times before it would stop complaining. Weird! Not sure how to straighten that out, but at least it did finally let me compute.

I never use the FPR, but try this for T60: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds029766
AFAIK authentec supports different models, not T60.

On my Z61p (T60p) and X61s I tried the IBM / Lenovo fingerprint software and it was so slow and very unreliable, so I tried the AuthenTec TrueSuite v5.2.500.3 and that works beautifully everytime.

Well then I'll try the Authentec software, assuming it's free. I wasn't having trouble with the Lenovo fingerprint software but it didn't seem available to me. Meantime, my T60 with the faulty fingerprint reader was giving me problems just wanting to use my password, so I uninstalled the Client Security Solution, which fixed things, pretty much.

Edit: Well, assuming RealBlackStuff is right I can't use the Authentic software with the T60, so I'll install the Lenovo software. Or maybe I won't bother. I'm not super excited by the fingerprint reader, actually!

Yes the software is free because Apple bought the rights to it, just prior to their iPhone 5 I think. So the software is no longer updated for IBM / Lenovo users but the last version is free to download and use.
