IBM THINKPAD 360PE-2620 on eBay

#1 Post by twisting_edge » Tue Sep 08, 2015 5:37 pm

Anyone else caught sight of this ad?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-THINKPAD-36 ... 1604157715

I wonder what he'll eventually get for it.

It's actually a pretty cool machine: check out he modular internals lower on the page: the keyboard lifted up so you could pop out components.
X32, 2 x X40, 2 x X61, W530 - all run just fine, X32 is 1.7GHz/2Gb - surprisingly functional
Latest: thrashed out but still running X22 with a whole bunch of high-grade parts
I'm not actually a ThinkPad junkie, it just worked out that way.

This listing has been up for 4 years already :)

I do not think he wants to sell it...

Holy moses.

Not sure what put it in his mind that such a price was even plausible. I know it's mint condition and everything, and a museum piece, but...
Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...

Notice the "Make Offer" button, that's not the price.

I suppose one could make an offer of $50 or so and see what he comes back with. It'd be worth that much, at least.

Why speculate when you can try it?

I did so, and it was immediately declined by a filter.

Now it is tempting to try to inch upwards to find the lowest offer that would clear the filter, but I've got an impeccable record on eBay and want to keep it that way.

My guess is that whatever one would reasonably pay for such a machine - say $1500 - would not be anywhere near enough to clear the filter.

Two things to consider:

a) It has cost him a nice chunk of change to keep this listing alive for several years so

b) he's looking for one right buyer that will spend a serious amount of money and will hold onto the system until such a person shows up. Or...

I tried 2 years ago: 200, 400 and 555 and was automatically declined :)
