WTB T61 NMB keyboard Swedish-Finnish layout

#1 Post by Orclas » Sun Sep 13, 2015 5:09 am

My keyboard is showing signs of age and I thought I'd start looking, particularly since my preferences narrow things down a great deal:
  • Swedish-Finnish layout
NMB (not yet desperate enough to go for anything else)
Excellent/good used condition (above all key response wise, minor visual flaws is fine)
According to T61 HW manual the corresponding FRU would be 42T3164, but don't know if compatible keyboards for other models (T60 R60 R61 Z61 Z60 T400) may go by other FRUs.

Not that I really know what the general going rate would be, but willing to pay a premium for any mint condition offers.

Wish me luck :)

Hint: See this post for information about the "cross-ThinkPad keyboard compatibility" of T6x/p keyboards.

By the way, with respect to the T4x/p-era NMB keyboards; there were two "brands" in the sense that the oldest, and widely considered as best, were made-in-Thailand, while the latter NMB's were made-in-China, and having a more Chicony-like (rubber) feel. I'm not sure if the T6x-era NMB's also came as both made-in-Thailand and made-in-China, but I'm sure you'll be able to find out about this for yourself if searching e.g. this forum (I'm too lazy right now to do it for you...).

Good luck! :thumbs-UP:

My current NMB is in such case definitely made in China and that of my retired T40 in Thailand...

Was reminded of the pure awesomeness of the T40 NMB - plus general touch and feel of the machine (LCD aside  ) - when I recently needed a Linux environment and took the T40 from storage.

Given the chances of finding a SE/FI NMB in good condition, I'd be fine with a chinese made as well.
