2373n1u 15sxga screen? Have it fixed to 1024/768 res.
Hi!
I have the 2373n1u t42 w/ 15"sxga but am finding myself fixing it to 1024/768 resolution because sxga is too small for my eyes. I am still in my 30 day trial period and am considering changing to a 14sxga, 14xga, or 15xga. Which one is the equivalent of the 15'sxga fixed to 1024/768? I do a lot of word processing and eye comfort is the priority. Thanks for any input! =)

All 15", 14", SXGA+, XGA can do 1024.
Unfortunately, 15" fixed at 1024 is the biggest (with respect to the smallest letter) you can get. Rationale? 1024 pixels on a 15" screen will appear bigger than 1024 pixels on a 14" screen. Likewise, 1400 (SXGA+) on a 14" screen will appear even smaller than they do on a 15" screen.
If you really want to save money, find a similar model that is only 15" XGA, and swap with that one - it should cost less overall.
edit: refined "biggest"

Any suggestions on what t series model with a 15" xga is good? I just require the following at the minimum: ($1900 highest price)- of course, the cheaper the better!
512
1.7 ghz
60
64 video memory
quiet fan
Again it will be mostly used for word processing. Thanks! =)

Before you go exchanging machines, have you tried changing the DPI setting to 120DPI?
Display Properties -> Settings -> Advance -> 120 DPI.
It will increase the fonts size displayed to a more readable size.
edit: Actually, I don't see any T42 models with XGA and 64MB video. You will have to step down to the ATI 7500 graphics card with 32MB video. You will also lose the Flexview screen that the 15" SXGA+ provide.

Try Liquid View from:
www.portrait.com
It lets you dynamically tweak the Windows DPI.
Make Windows XP fonts any size you want, on the fly!!!
Works great for me.

there are no 64meg video thinkpad T series with a 15 inch XGA display that I am aware of..
try the DPI setting, first..
that should help..
the 2373N1U is a wonderful thinkpad with a beautiful display..

According to the tabook, there are at least two T43 models that are 15" XGA with 64MB video, 266887U and 266883U, but they both only have 40GB HD and again will not be Flexview. The fan may or may not meet the OP's requirements.BillMorrow wrote:there are no 64meg video thinkpad T series with a 15 inch XGA display that I am aware of..
For word processing, the DPI change should help with the SXGA+ screen/setting.
