T42p UXGA in Intel GMA910 R52

#1 Post by abodah » Wed Sep 30, 2015 5:54 am

Hello All,
New to this forum, and hoping to find solution for an old problem.
I searched for it in this forum and other site, but the topics was old with no solutions.
I had a broken T42p with a good LCD panel. and I recently bought an R52 with XGA display and Intel GMA 910.
I fitted the UXGA display in the R52, but the screen was either shifted to the right, or scaled up horizontally.
Now I tried EDID override, Cable change, and software's like PowerStrip.. nothing solved my problem.
I read somewhere that the Intel's cards do not support EDID override.
I am searching for a solution and your help - if you can - is much appreciated.
Also, I am thinking about EDID chip reprogramming, would that do the trick?
Regards
abodah

A T42p UXGA panel will only work in an R52 if it has ATI graphics.
You also need an UXGA-capable LCD-cable, which does not exist for R52.
On R52 Intel it will never work.

I think EDID override only works with T/X/R6x series as they share the same screen cable.
You really should get a T43/R52 board with ATI. Intel GMA not only refuses any screen but XGA, but also it does not support any kinds of Windows Aero. There are plenty avail on eBay

Correct.

A cable from an UXGA R50p should solve this part of the problem...
On R52 Intel it will never work.
...but you're back to square one right here.
