Screen flicker -new T43
Screen flicker -new T43
I have a new T43 2687DDU which is fantastic except for an occasional issue with the display. I've tried to narrow down the circumstances that are present when this happens, it is more often when the AC is disconnected. When disconnected, and the screen turns off to conserve the battery, any key touched will cause the screen to re-appear for a second, go dark again, and then everything is back to normal.
At first I thought this was a hiccup in the power saver "scheme" but the same happens when AC is connected and the screen isn't dark. When there is a period of no input from me (keyboard or pointing devices) and the machine is left idle, it's almost as if the machine has to blink to wake up and then its normal again. This isn't really an issue that bothers me if it is normal, but I thought it a bit odd.
Any other 2687 owners or thinkpad vets want to chime in?
Maybe a power setting tweak that I need to perform, but this happens regardless of power sources.

i had a similar problem with my t42, but it only happened when is came out of standby (and i think when i just had the monitor turned off). it would wake up and for a second i couldn't move the mouse or anything, then it would "blink" and return to normal. i didnt bother me either, but after i did a fresh install of windows, the problem went away. i think as sugo said, it might be related to your video drivers, because i've been using Omega drivers since the fresh windows install. try updated all your drivers straight from IBM. if that doesn't work or if you have all the latest drivers, then try the Omega drivers. it might do the trick.

ive experienced a similar problem. i discovered that its when u have battery maximiser lower the lcd brightness when system is idle and u have windows turn off your screen when system is idle. Go into the battery maximiser wizard and turn off the global settings for changing lcd brightness if the laptop is idle
Thanks for the suggestions, I first downloaded the latest drivers which didn't fix the issue, so then I created a new power scheme in the power settings wizard, kept most of the settings the same, but the problem seems to be gone. If it comes back I'll look @ the Omega drivers...but I'm not sure where to look for them.
Shouldn't the auto detect/download function @ ibm do this for me if needed?
thanks for your input
