T420 questions

#1 Post by mcthinker » Mon Oct 19, 2015 2:54 am

I own a T420 and I was wondering if anyone else gets that sort of, "clicking" noise when they put their hands on the palmrests. It's not my HDD because it swapped it for a SSD.

Also I am wondering where I should go for a replacement 9cell battery. Mine has slightly damaged casing but works perfectly. It's also worn to 80% capacity. I also heard you can install a i7 in these and remove the BIOS whitelisting.

The CD mechanism in mine was activated, made clicking sounds, by pressure on the palm rest. I removed the drive.

I've never noticed a clicking sound with mine, even with a mechanical HDD installed.

It will take an i7 CPU (DC or QC) although it only officially supports up to the 2.8GHz DC flavor. The QC chips will work but heat output is a concern.

I have the same issue.
Found 2 solutions this is what my buddy and me did it.
For the left side, its because due to the dummy smart card reader (made from plastic and its soft).
So what I did was buying second hand smart card reader found on ebay 10-20 although im not using it. but the click noise is gone
and for my buddy he built an aluminium plate since he is very good with aluminium crafting.
