T42 - LED Is always on (right side by optical drive)

#1 Post by admsteiner » Sun Jun 20, 2004 3:59 pm

Hey,

On my T42 (2378-FVU) there is a green LED on the right side which is *always* on. It isn't the one on the optical drive but rather to the immediate left of the external display port. I think it is related to the optical drive (or the battery if you put one in).

Is there any way to turn this off?

Thanks

Adam

No, you can't turn it off. That's meant to tell you that the optical drive (or anything in the slim bay) is currently active so not to pull it out. For example, if you eject the optical drive from within Windows, it'll turn off telling you that you can now pull the drive out. The other option is you use the release switch just under the bay, wait for the light to go out, and then pull the drive. That light is there for a purpose.

Oh,ok. I figured it was for something like that but wasn't sure.

Thanks again,
