Can HD+ cable be used with regular screen?

Well, I have ordered an HD+ cable from eBay and need to confirm whether it works or not. The HD+ replacement screen will arrive in a couple of weeks but I wanted to make sure the cable works so that I can report it accordingly to eBay in time. So... can I use HD+ (1600x900) cable on the regular 1366x768 screen or not, without causing any burn outs...?

Can you specify which Thinkpad model you have?

I have T430 that has 1366x768 screen currently.

No issues. The HD+ cable has additional wires, which are not used/connected by the HD (1366x768) screen.
