I am looking at a EVGA Nvidia 960 4GB for $200 I am wanting to play Fallout 4 on my PC, I am wanting to get a 970-980 but only have $250 to spend. I bought a ThinkCentre M82p Core i3 8GB RAM and 1TB HDD for only $100.00, So it seemed good for that price. As of right now my Main desktop witch runs Skyrim, Fallout3, Fallout NV, very well on high settings, Is a Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.0GHz 4GB RAM Maxed, EVGA Nvidia GT520 card. I even installed Fallout 4 on it and Yes it runs the game. The videos play very well without any stutter, but the game is while playable very laggy. It crashed on me twice while making my face and if the area is to populated with npcs. So I stayed in my home and played around in game. But it is nice to see the Pentium 4 can still handle even the newest games still. I wounder if I just upgraded the graphics card it would run any better. But I got a little better PC now coming in that can handle up to 32GB RAM Max and later get a i7 4th-5th gen processor.
Or would it be easier to wait and get the 980 that I want? Right now they are around the $500 range. How long before they come down? The 980 should last me many years as you can see I am still running the P4 still.

What kind of resolution and refresh rate are you looking to push? The general consensus seems to be that a GTX 960 is sufficient for 1080p60, 970 / above for higher resolutions.
I have a GTX 960 2GB, and it runs Metal Gear Solid V very well with max settings at 1080p 60fps.

GTX 960 is a good option. I would get one with 4GB of memory instead of 2GB. I see that EVGA makes a 960 with 4GB. Reason being is a lot more of the modern AAA titles are getting intense on textures. You may find in 18 months that you might struggle with a 2GB card.
I have finally rejoined the dark side.
