consistent trackpoint scroll?

#1 Post by ivan » Mon Jun 06, 2005 8:47 am

the trackpoint scroll works in some programs pefectly (e.g. IE), in others only vertically but not horizonatally (e.g. firefox) and in others not at all (e.g. matlab editor). BTW, I do have the latest driver updates installed (in particular: IBM trackpoint driver 3.50.0.0)

I've always had this problem and learned to live with... but wondering if anyone knows a solution. Thanks!

Given that you have all the drivers installed, the reason why this happens is because of the difference of scrolling codes within each program. For firefox, there's been controversy on how to fix it, but you may be lucky to be able to find an extension for it somewhere (SmoothWheel may or may not do the trick; these scrolling calls are made on the system level). As for matlab editor, I'd at least expect that to be vertically scrollable, but again, every piece of software is different.

I tried the extension for Firefox you recommend might solve the problem. But wasn't able to get horizontal scrolling.

Maybe I am not configuring the many options it has correctly. Although they all seem to be about speed and smoothness, not addressing the horizontal scrolling directly.

I really value scrolling in Firefox, if anyone has an idea how to fix it it would be great!
