Question on T42 Hard Drive

#1 Post by mrxle3 » Mon Jun 06, 2005 1:37 pm

Hi guys. I just recently picked up a brand new t42 2378 fvu with a 40 gb harddrive...I've heard of Ibm's hidden partition and everything. My 40 gb hard drive came to me with a max capactiy of 32.6 gb, with about 26 gb left for me to use. My question to everyone is, if I repartition the hard drive using partition magic, can I use the IBM recovery to install JUST windows on my main C: partition without the 6 gb of IBM stuff?

I think what you want is this post: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=3827

I followed the instructions carefully and backed up everything and it worked great for me on a T42. Recovered about 6 Gigs of space which is a big deal on a 60GB drive.
